For information about Tai Chi, keep reading below!!  Tai Chi Qigong is based on the philosophy of both Tai Chi and Qigong (which means energy work) and extracts some of the best movements from Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan.  It is designed to improve the general health and well-being of the practitioner and is a great start to learning Tai Chi.

Tai Chi Qigong is an ideal part of an overall health program and an effective approach to help the practitioner to access the inner strength needed to face the challenges of everyday life. Tai Chi Qigong combines posture, movement, breathing, meditation, and conscious intent to enhance and refine our life's energy, known as Qi (pronounced "chee"). Balance, coordination, flexibility, calmness, and mental alertness increase through practice of Tai Chi Qigong. The overall effect of Tai Chi Qigong is to reduce mental stress and physical tension carried in the muscles of the body.

Researchers have found that long-term T'ai Chi practice had favorable effects on the promotion of balance control, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness and reduced the risk of falls in elders. The studies also reported reduced pain, stress and anxiety in healthy subjects. Other studies have indicated improved cardiovascular and respiratory function in healthy subjects as well as those who had undergone coronary artery bypass surgery. Patients also benefited from T'ai Chi who suffered from heart failure, high blood pressure, heart attacks, arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

T'ai Chi has also been shown to reduce the symptoms of young Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) sufferers. T'ai Chi's gentle, low impact movements surprisingly burn more calories than surfing and nearly as many as downhill skiing. T'ai Chi also boosts aspects of the immune system's function very significantly, and has been shown to reduce the incidence of anxiety, depression, and overall mood disturbance.

Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan is the most popular and widely practiced style in the world today and the second in terms of seniority among the primary five family styles of Tai Chi.
